Prayer of the Month

Our Lady

Prayer Before Praying the Rosary

Queen of the Holy Rosary you have deigned to come to Fatima to reveal to the three shepherd children the treasures of grace hidden in the Rosary.
Inspire my heart with a sincere love of this devotion, in order that by meditating on the Mysteries of our Redemption which are recalled in it, I may be enriched with its fruits and obtain peace for the world, the conversion of sinners and of Russia (and China), and the favor which I ask you in this Rosary (here mention your request)
I ask this for the greater glory of God, for your own honor, and for the good of all souls, especially of my own.
The Pope's Prayer Intentions for October 2009
General: That Sunday may be lived as the day on which Christians gather to celebrate the risen Lord, participating in the Eucharist.

Mission: That the entire People of God, to whom Christ entrusted the mandate to go and preach the Gospel to every creature, may eagerly assume their own missionary responsibility and consider it the highest service they can offer humanity.

Activities and Info for September Feast Days

Dear Family,

OL and Child I love October!  The cooling temperatures, the changing landscape from green to gold, and harvesting and preserving the fall fruits all seem to conjure up a natural "nesting" instinct in me.   I start stocking up the pantry, assessing the clothing situation for each family member and start making plans for all the indoor ToDos on my list I just couldn't get to when the weather was warmer.
While October is certainly a time for assessing our supplies and stocking the pantry, it is also a good time to take stock of what graces we might have stored in Heaven for ourselves.  And since this is the month dedicated to the Holy Rosary, why not stock up on a few extra Ave Maria's this month?
My love for the Holy Rosary is no secret - the rosary is what started our ministry!  And it is the rosary that continues to fuel my desire to spread the joys of the faith to those around me.  I am pleased to offer you and your family many links to increase your devotion to Our Lady.  Whether you have never picked up a rosary in your life or have been praying it since you could speak, there is something in here for everyone - young and old alike.  Just start exploring the links!
And don't forget to take a sneak peek at a few of our new products featured in this newsletter.  Just scroll down towards the bottom to find new ways of bringing the holy rosary to your family.
We are compiling a special issue for you, coming later this month, to help you plan for All Saints Day.  Some of the activities we searched out for you will take a few days to prepare before you use them on the feast day, so keep an eye out for that special issue.
And, true to form, we were planning on unveiling our new website in late September, but apparently Our Lord had other plans.  Some of the littlest members of our family came down with the H1N1 virus and since family comes before our ministry, we had to put that on hold for a little bit.
However, the site is almost complete (with literally hundreds of links for you!) and we will send out a special notice to let you know when it is ready.  Intercessories Family Ministry is working hard to make our website one of the only places you need to go to to find great information and links on ways to celebrate the faith every day of the year!
In Him,
Jay and Cassandra Poppe

Promises of Our Lady

If someone promised you $1,000,000 if you only had to spend 20 minutes with the person a day, would you do it?   I can't imagine anyone turning down such an offer, especially if you know that this person was kind, gentle, loving and charitable.  Soon, I imagine, you wouldn't mind your 20 minute obligation at all and begin looking forward to learning many fascinating and comforting things through this amazing person.

Our Blessed Mother has promised us much more than $1,000,000.  She has promised us graces, power, protection, deliverance from Purgatory, and so much more.  And all we need to do is spend 20 minutes a day meditating on Our Lord and Our Lady through the rosary!  In case you may need a little push to beign or if you just need a quick review of the promises, here they are:
  Our Lady
  1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the rosary, shall receive signal graces.
  2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the rosary.
  3. The rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.
  4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
  5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the rosary, shall not perish.
  6. Whoever shall recite the rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God and become worthy of eternal life.
  7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.
  8. Those who are faithful to recite the rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plentitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the saints in paradise.
  9. I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the rosary.
  10. The faithful children of the rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in heaven.
  11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the rosary.
  12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
  13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death.
  14. All who recite the rosary are my sons, and brothers of my only son Jesus Christ.
  15. Devotion of my rosary is a great sign of predestination.
Given by the Blessed Mother to Saint Dominic

October Feast

The Most Holy Rosary

I have included a few links, in no paticular order, to get you going!
Survivors attribute this miracle to their daily rosary devotion
Queen of the Holy Rosary, pray for us!
rosary heartThe Rosary

In a time of critical danger to the Church, God raised up, in the words of Pope Leo XIII, "a most holy man, the illustrious parent and founder of the dominican order.  Great in the integrity of his doctrine, in his example of virtue, and by his apostolic labors, he dauntlessly proceeded to attack the enemies of the Catholic Church, not by force of arms, but by complete trust to that devotion which he was the first to institute under the name of the Holy Rosary, which was disseminated through the length and breadth of the earth by him and his followers.  "Guided, in fact, by divine inspiration and grace, he forsaw that this devotion, like a most powerful weapon, would be the means of putting the enemy to flight, and of confounding their audacity and mad impiety.  Such was indeed its result.  Thanks to this new method of prayer - when adopted and propely carried out as instituted by the holy founder, St. Dominic - piety, faith and union began to return."

There has never been a greater enemy of the people of God than atheistic communism.  And the Popes of our age have held out the rosary as a heavenly sign, asking us to invoke with them the intercession of the Blessed Mother of God.
In her the ideals of mankind find their most perfect realization.  In her, joy becomes exultation; sorrow is transfused with the beauty of perfect virtue, understanding and resignation; glory is transfigured with a divine aura.
In her life, all three - joy, sorrow and glory - were intermingled as they are in our own lives; in her they were united into a mysterious harmony and perfection which was the result of her fullnessof grace.
In the Annunciation there was joy, sorrow and glory.  There was joy in the announcement that the prophecies were now fulfilled; sorrow in the realization that the Redeemer would be a Man of Sorrows; glory in the announcement that she was to be the Mother of God.
In the visitation there was joy in the meeting of the two mothers, Mary and Elizabeth, and in the meeting of Jesus and John; there was sorrow in the lonliness of their mutual understanding; there was glory so beautifully expressed in the magnificat "My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior...for, behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed."
At the Nativity there was the joy of the Angelic choirs, the sorrow of the poverty of the Holy Family, and the glory of God made visible in the Infant Jesus, God made Man.
At the Presentation there was the joy of Simeon who received the Infant Jesus into his arms; the sorrow of his prophecy: "Thy own soul a sword shall pierce."  And the glory of Him who would be "a light of revelation to the Gentiles and a glory for thy people Isreal.'
At the finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple, there was the joy of reunion; then Our Lady asked, "Son, why hast Thou done so to us?  Behold, thy father and I have been seeking Thee, sorrowing."  And there was the glory of the revelation of the wisdom of God as Our Lord, for the first time, exercised his teaching authority, "all who were listening to Him were amazed at his understanding and his answers... And Jesus advanced in wisdom and age and grace before God and men."
Our Lady of Peace
So it is with all the mysteries of the holy rosary.  In meditating upon them in the silent moments of prayer, meditation and contemplation, we find that which refreshes and strengthens our soul, increases our patience, understanding and charity, and fills us with a spirit of zeal for the salvation of the world through the reign of the charity of Christ in the hearts of all men.
Through devotion to the rosary, piety, faith and union will begin to return to the world.
"Let us all beseech her," said Pope Pius XII, "that those who have miserably wandered from the path of truth and virtue may with new fervor, find it again; and hatred and rivalry, which are the sources of discord and every kind of mishap, may be put aside, and that a true, just, and genuine peace may shine again upon individuals, families, peoples, and nations.  And finally, may she obtain that, after the rights of the Church have been secured in accord with justice, its beneficent influence may penetrate without obstacle the hearts of men, the social classes and the avenues of public life, so as to join people among themselves in true brotherhood."
