Thoughts from Pat Baillie, Associate Director of Training & Professional Development

I picked the phone up last Friday and was talking to a consultant who was asking if Out & Equal could support an upcoming training meeting for Diversity & Inclusion professionals. He was frantically searching for someone who could do the training on very short notice. One of his contacts had attended an Out & Equal training last year in Monterey and she highly recommended Out & Equal for the job.

When we talked about their corporate needs for the training, it fit right into the original Building Bridges outline:
  • LGBT Cultural Compentency covering terminology, concepts, and history
  • LGBT Business Case looking at the employee, employer and customer perspectives on the value of workplace equality
  • Action Planning which looks at what to do next in developing policy, benefits and allies in the workplace

A great example of the power of referral.  Your corporation may not be in the market for training,  but consider who else you know that might benefit from training - whether introductory training or more advanced topics. The webinar archives for Out & Equal University are growing. Take a look and if you don't see a course on the topic that you need, let us know!

Sincerely,

Pat Baillie

News for Out & Equal certified trainers

This month we sent out reminders to everyone who has been on the Trainer's Network for more than two years that their certification to train the LGBT Diversity Leadership material is expiring.  Please review any of your training materials that use the Out & Equal material and update them at this time.

Trainer's can get recertified by re-taking Train the Trainer in two ways. The next confirmed classroom course is October 28 at the annual Summit in Dallas, TX.  You can also recertify by taking the online webinars.  Start with the Building Bridges webinar (3 parts) and then take the Train the Trainer (3 parts).  For those of you still on the Trainer's Network, consider how you are using  the training materials.  Also review the Trainer's Forum recorded sessions to keep up on the current LGBT events and training updates.
