| Greetings! While you could default to candy & roses for Valentine's Day, that option is perishable, caloric & certainly predictable. Why not give something that will last beyond a few days (and not just on the hips!)? Something beautiful & hand crafted? A gift that shows your thoughtfulness & ingenuity? For the most up-to-date news, including possible closures due to our unpredictable winter weather, visit our blog: www.TheArtisansBlog.com

| Lexi Rojahn was trained in traditional fine arts, but
is entirely self-taught in fiber art & jewelry making. Inspired by nature, she developed her
botanical pins, experimenting with new techniques & embellishments. They are made
using both needle & wet felting, then machine embroidered & hand beaded. Poppies, orchids &
leaves are favorite motifs.

Liz Langsfeld is another local artist with an original take on her craft. This appetizer plate is slab built (the clay is rolled out, not thrown on a wheel) & embossed with patterns from antique tin ceiling tiles. The attached pick holder adds utility with artistic flair. Her new glaze - called Tin Roof - is earthy, rich & a great foil for cheese cubes, marinated mushrooms, olives...even sushi.

Just a blossom or two will create a stunning floral arrangement when artfully displayed in an ikebana vase. The Japanese style relies on simplicity & sculptural lines. This vase is by Georgetown Pottery in Maine, & contains a pin frog that is epoxied in place to securely hold stems & branches. Or try covering the frog with pea gravel & forcing some spring bulbs.
