April 16, 17 and 18, 20123:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each dayOshawa and District Shrine Club 1626 Simcoe Street North, Oshawa The City of Oshawa is hosting 6 public Open Houses as part of its consideration of the potential extension of Runway 12/30 at the Oshawa Municipal airport. Staff and consultants will be available to answer questions. The Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce encourages the business community to attend and provide comments on the proposed extension. Following the public Open Houses, a public meeting will be held at a regularly scheduled Development Services Committee to consider all comments received. The public will have the opportunity to speak at this meeting. The City of Oshawa is committed to providing services as set out in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. Durham College And Parkwood Announce New Partnership
New horticulture students will gain valuable hands-on experience in Parkwood's historic gardens and greenhouses. Durham College and Parkwood National Historic Site (Parkwood) announced an innovative partnership that will see them work together to develop and deliver educational curricula for the college's new two-year Horticulture Technician diploma program, which is offered through the School of Science & Engineering Technology and launching in September 2012.

Ontario Budget Report Two-Pronged Approach Key To Future Growth And Prosperity
The Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) and the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce (GOCC) has called for a two-pronged approach to balancing the books: deficit reduction and a clear focus on growth and transforming the Ontario economy for the 21st century. Overall, the March 27th Ontario Budget positions us to move in this direction.
The GOCC recognizes that the 2012 Ontario Budget made difficult choices as the province's debt repayments rank as the third largest area of expenditure after education and health care. The budget's main focus on reducing the deficit is certainly the top priority for Ontario businesses - and is a key factor in the economic vitality of the province and our ability to deliver critical government programs. But to lay the groundwork for future growth and prosperity, austerity is only one side of the equation. A vision for future economic growth is the other.
