Digital Technology Can Help Your Business Grow Information Session: Friday, March 16 and Thursday, March 22, 2012
Durham College is participating in the delivery of the Government of Canada's Digital Technology Adoption Pilot Program (DTAPP),
DTAPP is structured to provide assistance to firms in all sectors of the Canadian economy. Its objective is to accelerate the adoption of digital technologies in small- and medium-sized enterprises operating in Canada in order to boost their productivity and create economic growth and opportunity.
If your firm is incorporated, has 500 employees or less and is currently seeking opportunities to adopt digital technology with a goal of increasing its productivity, it could be eligible to receive assistance.
As part of the initial phase of DTAPP, Durham College is looking to identify a limited number of industry partners to continue to work with for the remainder of the program by Saturday, March 31.
Firms that meet the eligibility requirements listed above and those on the DTAPP website should contact Chris Gillis, Manager Incubator Centre Durham College, by Friday, March 16.
Two information sessions will be held on Friday, March 16 and Thursday, March 22, 2012 to identify suitable partners for the remainder of the program. To confirm your attendance at one of these sessions please contact Chris Gillis by email.

OPG Marks An Important Milestone For Darlington Refurbishment
 Ontario Power Generation Inc. (OPG) has taken another step toward the refurbishment of the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station. OPG has awarded a two-phase contract to plan for and then replace major components of the four reactors at Darlington. The contract for more than $600 million to a joint venture of SNC-Lavalin Nuclear Inc. and Aecon Construction Group Inc. is one of several that will be awarded for the refurbishment of the facility. This is a key project milestone and a significant advancement of the refurbishment activities and continued operation of the Darlington station. The refurbishment will create more than 6,000 jobs. Chamber Announces New ADVOCACY IN ACTION Strategy
The Policy Committees of the GOCC have been recently revised into four distinct areas and consist of two standing committees and two taskforces (Municipal Affairs & Economic Development; Federal & Provincial Affairs; Transportation Taskforce and Environment & Energy Taskforce). The committees and taskforces monitor and interpret government legislation that will impact business and make recommendations for action to the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. The Policy Committees work with various levels of government and with the Economic Development Departments of the Greater Oshawa area to ensure there is a climate for growth of existing businesses as well as new business.
