Ten Minutes To Have Your

 Say On Corporate Taxes

Corporate taxes affect every Canadian business - including yours. Now is your chance to have a say.

Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) has partnered with KPMG on an important survey regarding the taxation of corporate groups. The information gathered in this process will be used to provide feedback to the Government of Canada, which is currently in the midst of an extensive consultation period.

These consultations could lead to the adoption of a more formalized system of loss transfers, or some form of consolidated reporting. This could dramatically alter the taxation of many corporate groups in Canada.

As part of our contribution to this crucial debate, we are asking financial executives from coast-to-coast to share their views.

Please take 10 minutes to voice your comments and concerns by completing the following survey, in confidence, by Friday, January 28, 2011. CME and KPMG will share the final results, as well as our formal submission to the Department of Finance, after the data has been analyzed.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your input in this matter.

To complete the survey, please click:

For more information, please contact Derek Lothian at 613-238-8888 (ext. 4228) or e-mail derek.lothian@cme-mec.ca.

Ten Volunteers Needed - Are You Up For The Challenge?

Challenge
Get involved and make a difference. The 3rd Annual "Challenge" is a great opportunity for networking and there are several areas, including bowling, go karting and air tag, where volunteers are needed to help the event run smoothly. It takes teamwork to make the event work, and the Chamber needs your help. The Annual Challenge will take place at NEB's World, 1300 Wilson Road N. in Oshawa and if you can spare some time on Wednesday, March 2, between 3PM and 8PM, please contact the Chamber at 905-728-1683 or by email and put your name on the list.

VOLUNTEERING - It's a WIN-WIN!
Blood Drive - Make It A Team Effort!
Blood Services

Due to flu and illness appointments are down at the Canadian Blood Services in Durham and they need the community's help. Over the next two weeks, the Oshawa Permanent Clinic will host a group of 4 or more to come to the clinic and donate as a team. This is a great team building exercise and doesn't cost  anything but an hour of time. Remember that your one donation can save up to 3 lives.

If you call to arrange for a group donation time - staff will provide pizza while visiting and even arrange for a bus to come and pick you and your group up (for 4 or more). Advanced notice required.

The Oshawa Permanent Clinic is open Tuesday through Thursday 12:30 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 7:30 am till 1:00 p.m.

If you and your team can help, please call Melissa Smith-McGuire at 416-550-0934. If you are unable to bring a group, please encourage your employees to visit the Clinic in the next two weeks!
