Give Back With "Toys for Tickets" Campaign

Motorists will have the opportunity to turn the situation of receiving a parking ticket into a positive experience this festive season by donating a new toy in lieu of payment.

The program applies to parking tickets issued by the City of Oshawa between December 1 and December 10. Tickets issued for illegal parking in accessible spaces will not be eligible. Toys will be accepted for children from newborn to the age of 18. The value of the toy must equal or exceed the amount owing on the parking ticket.

A new unwrapped toy with a supporting cash register receipt will be accepted as "payment" at Service Oshawa, located inside City Hall at 50 Centre Street South on December 9 or December 10 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for each eligible ticket presented..

For more information, visit www.oshawa.ca or call 905-436-3311.

Human Resource - Hiring Regulations

When you hire a new employee, there are a few things you must do to comply with government requirements. You need to:
  • ensure that your recruitment and interviewing practices are not discriminatory
  • create an employee record with basic information on your employee
  • verify your employee's social insurance number (SIN)
  • have your employee complete certain tax forms for payroll purposes
In addition, while not currently required, the government is asking employers to participate in the Report on Hiring Program, by reporting new hires to help reduce employment insurance fraud.
