Chamber Remembers Bob Attersley

The Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce remembers Robert Alan (Bob) Attersley, who passed away on Friday, March 12th, 2010. Our heartfelt condolences to Bob's wife Joan and his family from the Board of Directors, members and staff during this difficult time. Bob was a long time friend of many in our community. He will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held at the R.S. McLaughlin Armouries, Oshawa on Wednesday, March 17 at 2:00 P.M. Bob was Whitby's longest serving Mayor; former Chair of the Durham Regional Police Services Board; Honourary Colonel, Ontario Regiment; former Oshawa General, World Championship Gold Medal member of the 1958 Whitby Dunlops and Olympic Silver Medalist with the 1960 Kitchener Waterloo Dutchman. He was an active member of the Shriners/Jesters; former member of the Rotary Club of Whitby, and served for 11 years with the Greater Toronto Airport Authority.

Due to overwhelming demand, producers are expanding the search to over 40 stops including a stop in Oshawa. DRAGONS' DEN is seeking Canadians with creative ideas and money-making savvy to make the case for cash. Just back from the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, Ms. Kane assisted in the development and production of the CTV Olympic Celebration coast to coast. Oshawa: A Hub For Post-Secondary Education 

The City of Oshawa is fast becoming a hub for post-secondary education with Trent University and UOIT announcing plans to expand their presence in Oshawa by the start of the fall 2010 semester. In addition, Durham College plans to create new teaching spaces at its Oshawa campus to accommodate increased enrolment numbers and will soon be home to a new Student Services building. Earth Hour

Become involved and help the Greater Oshawa area remain a green and sustainable community. Upcoming environmental events include Earth Hour on Saturday, March 27 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (the idea is to turn off your lights and all non-essential power to focus attention on the need for action on Climate Change) and the annual PITCH-IN Canada clean-up week from April 19 to 25. The Municipalities are aiming for more business participation during Pitch-In Week. Please do your part to make things cleaner and greener!!
