Data Destruction and Recyling at GES
Goodwill Easter Seals now as the capability to provide shredding services to any business or organization. This is just another way GES is working to provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
How does it work?
* GES will place a locked, secured container at any location you choose.
* At regularly scheduled intervals, our uniformed employees will arrive at your location to swap-out the secured containers.
* Shred and destroy the confidential material at GES.
These services are being created to provide meaningful employment for people with significant disabilities who may otherwise not be employed at all.
Does your business or company need shredding services for confidential material? Why not use a service that helps others and gives back to the community. For more information please contact Larry Ready at 251.471.1581 or 251.510.9082.

Staff and volunteers making a difference...
GES Volunteer wins Heart of Gold Award for prison tutoring
GES nominated Louise Wilber for the Heart of Gold Awards this year. Louise teaches, processes new students, assesses their readiness for the GED test, and refers them to the local GES classrooms when they are released. To date, Louise has served over 40 incarcerated women, and has recruited three additional volunteers to help her in the once-a-week class.
GES is delighted to announce that Louise Wilber received the Merit Award for her work with Goodwill Easter Seals at the Mobile Metro Jail Barracks GED program. We are honored to have Louise Wilber as an outstanding volunteer.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program
sets new record
Within three years Goodwill Easter Seals' Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program has grown from a mere 96 tax returns prepared in one Alabama county to nearly 550 tax returns in four Alabama and Florida counties.
VITA sites like Goodwill Easter Seals' provide a safe alternative to those in need of tax return services.
Goodwill Easter Seals is one of many local agencies providing this service but it would not be possible without the dedicated volunteers, many of whom are GES employees who give much of their time to this project in addition to their regular job duties.
As an agency with a focus on serving people with disabilities, GES made a special effort to reach out to this population. This year, returns were prepared for working adults with disabilities residing in Volunteers of America (VOA) housing complexes, Independent Living Center and the Poarch Band of Creek Indians in Atmore, Ala.
Numbers alone can not reflect the real impact that the GES VITA program provides; it is the genuine expressions of gratitude from those receiving this service that speaks volumes.

Clothing drive pays off
Abigail McLendon, a participant from Girl Scouts of the Deep South Council in Mobile, visited GES to receive check for a recent clothing drive. Abigail collected 70 bags of clothing throughout the drive, taking them to her local GES donation site, and helping others in the process.
The $250 check for her hard work goes toward paying for a week of camp with the Girl Scouts.
GES CEO Frank Harkins, along with Randy Henry, awarded Abigail McLendon $250 for changing lives.
