Last Day to Register for General Election

WAUKEGAN, Illinois - County Clerk Willard Helander reminds Lake County residents that October 9 is the last day to register to vote with local deputy registrars for the November 6 General Election.

"Residents who are new to Lake County, moved to a new address in Lake County, turn 18 on or before Election Day, or have changed one's name need to register by Tuesday, October 9," said Helander.

Lake County residents can visit or call 847.377.2410 to confirm registration status.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, 18 years old on or before the election, residents of the precinct for 30 days immediately prior to Election Day, and must provide two forms of identification.

Registration is available at the County Clerk's office and at most municipal, township and library facilities. In addition, there are trained deputy registrars available throughout the county and in every local community. To find the nearest registration location, voters may call the County Clerk's Voter Registration Department at 847.377.2410.

The County Clerk's office, 18 N. County St., Room 101, Waukegan, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Fridays not proceeding a holiday weekend.
