WAUKEGAN, Illinois - Are you looking for a way to help your community that will not cost you a dime and will actually give you some extra spending money? Lake County Clerk Willard Helander suggests you sign up to be an election judge for the March 20, 2012 General Primary Election.
Judges must be a U.S. citizen, registered to vote, read and write English, be enthusiastic about customer service, and maintain the integrity of the voting process. In addition to meeting the basic requirements, election judges need to attend a training session prior to Election Day. Training classes are available in locations throughout the county during variety of daytime and evening classes.
Helander explained, "Working in the polls offers citizens a first-hand role in our democracy and ensures that voting does work in our county."
