A Big "Thank You" to our Troops

WAUKEGAN, Illinois - A poster created by the Lake County Clerk's office and signed by community members who recently attended the Senior Resource Day in Zion, Illinois, was mailed to a U.S. military unit in Afghanistan. The Lake County Clerk's office and many friends in Lake County wanted to recognize the service of our dedicated military women and men.

"We hope our banner message of sincere gratitude for their courageous service might put a smile on their faces and brighten their day," said County Clerk Willard Helander. "The troops need to know they are in our hearts and minds, and we are most grateful for their dedication and service," added staff member Linda Musak.

Even though the poster is being mailed half-way around the world, there is still a local connection to those receiving it, as a Lake County Sheriff's Deputy is assigned to the unit.

"We wanted to thank the brave women and men watching over our freedom," Helander added. "For all they do, for all they are, we thank them from the bottoms of our hearts."
