ADA Equipment at Every Voting Site
WAUKEGAN - For April's election, every early voting and Election Day voting site in Lake County is equipped with an ADA-compliant voter assist terminal to empower voters who are visually impaired, physically disabled, or have a condition making it difficult for them to mark the optical scan ballot without assistance.
Voters can choose a private display screen option with an easy-to-read touch screen or use arrow keys for ballot navigation and marking. Each voter can control font size and screen contrast, and the terminal accommodates sip-and-puff tube technology.
Alternatively, there is an auditory ballot option with headphones for voters to listen to spoken instructions and ballot choices. The voter controls the volume and speed of speech setting. Demonstration of the voting system can be scheduled through the County Clerk's office by calling (847) 377-2314.
