October is harvest month! TreeUtah will be celebrating another fantastic planting season with our first ever Fall Harvest Festival. This month's Branching Out is all about our Festival.

It is going to be a wonderful day filled with lots of fun games and activities for the whole family to enjoy! There will be contests with great prizes and all you have to do is show up!

Even if you can't make it to the fantastic festival event you can still help to support TreeUtah by participating in our raffle for fun and exciting prizes (see article below).

Also, join us on October 22nd and meet TreeUtah's new team member Alex Porpora and get your photo taken with our amazing mascot Carrie the Cottonwood! Hope to see you there!

TreeUtah is pleased to announce that we will be starting a new education program this Fall! Through our organization's partnership with Salt Lake County Million Trees and the Utah Society for Environmental Education, we will be visiting second grade classrooms in Salt Lake County. This program, which aligns with the Utah State Office of Education's core curriculum, will feature TreeUtah's new mascot, Carrie the Cottonwood.

During these presentations, students will have the chance to find out more about trees and how they benefit all of us living in the Salt Lake valley from Carrie and her friends. Participating teachers will have the opportunity to complete a free Project Learning Tree workshop through the Utah Society for Environmental Education. We are looking forward to connecting with schools in our community, and expanding this program in the future.

Carrie the Cottonwood will also be making appearances in the community - you can see her and Alex Porpora, Tree Utah's Education Coordinator, at the Fall Harvest Festival on October 22nd!

If you have any questions regarding education programs, please contact Alex Porpora, education@treeutah.org

Games and Activities

Fun stuff to do at the Fall Festival

Check out all of the fun games and activities we have planned! The best part is that they are FREE to participate in.

Face painting: Let your child's imagination run wild and get their face painted as their favorite animal or character.

Three-Legged Race:
Throughout the festival people will be pairing up and having a great time trying to run as a twosome.

Pumpkin Painting: Here is your chance to paint a funny, scary or goofy face on a pumpkin to take home. Enter your pumpkin in the judging contest for a great prize.

Pie Eating Contest: Only the bravest and hungriest will dare to see if they can eat a delicious pie faster than all the rest!

Scavenger Hunt: Become an EcoGarden detective and use your senses to find flowers, bugs, fruit and more. Finish the hunt to get a mystery prize bag.
