The fall tree planting season is well underway! TreeUtah has already planted over 100 trees this fall. We are looking forward to lots of great events and workshops coming up this month.

Every Saturday in September, we hope that you will join us for some amazing workshops about sustainability, permaculture, and ecology. These workshops will be hosted at the beautiful EcoGarden and Community Orchard at the Day-Riverside Library (1575 West 1000 North).

Also, mark September 24th on your calendar. We are looking for 80 fantastic volunteers to help us plant at the Alta Mountain Resort. It would be wonderful to have you be part of this great tree planting experience!!

To sign up for a workshop or to plant trees visit us online at www.treeutah.org or call us at (801) 364-2122.

Fall Tree Planting has Begun!

Town of Alta Mayor, Tom Pollard, kneels down by his tree

The TreeUtah Fall planting season is off to a great start. So far we have two plantings under our belt, one in Albion Basin and one in Riverton.

On August 25th, we joined Friends of Alta and helped to plant 100 Engelmann spruce seedlings, including four memorial trees in honor of Michael Lineville, Dennis Lucas, Jim Wallie, and Sam Williams. Mayor Peter Corroon and Mayor Tom Pollard planted a tree in honor of a friend. It was meaningful to be part of that experience and to be up in the mountains surrounded by magnificent wildflowers in full bloom.

The second planting was at the South County Pool near the Riverbend golf course in Riverton. With the help of twenty Boy Scouts, five large trees were planted in about an hour and a half, racing to beat the setting sun. The two Honey Locusts and three Maples we planted are in an area that will provide shade for pool users on hot summer days, so if you use that facility, be sure to visit these trees! We look forward to the next two months and hope that you can join us for one of our fun tree planting events. You can register for our plantings on our website, www.treeutah.org.
