Greetings!
 | | One of many Fremont Cottonwood seedlings that is to be planted at the Redwood Nature Area this Spring |
Wow! April was an amazing month with 17 tree plantings! Despite the wet and cold weather, 1,219 volunteers planted 1,180 trees! Each tree planting event was unique and wonderful.
On April 21st a group of Young Presidents' Organization members and their families joined TreeUtah to plant a family forest of 160 Fremont Cottonwood seedlings! Mayor Peter Corroon joined in on the planting fun and seemed to be excited to count more trees toward his One Million Trees for One Million People Initiative. Thanks to the organization's financial generous support, the Redwood Nature Area now has a beautiful outdoor classroom. TreeUtah also had two great tree plantings at the Fremont Elementary School in Taylorsville and Driggs Elementary School in Millcreek. A total of 1,040 students participated in the planting of 17 large shade trees on their playground. Each grade named their tree while shoveling soil around the rootballs. TreeUtah is looking forward to three more school tree plantings this month for the Arbor Day Poster contest winners.
Spring has been full of tree planting fun and there is lots more to come. If you want to learn more or to get involved visit us at www.treeutah.org. Happy Planting, Gena Eugenia Christie
