News for May

May 14, 2010
flowering treeGreetings!

What a great planting season so far, we are happy to report that spring has been a huge success! Below are some planting highlights as well as links to recent news articles from the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News. Our newest Trees for Eagles environmental education program has officially launched. The EcoGarden is also full of life after a sleepy winter with lots of lush greens and baby buds. We are looking forward to seeing you out exploring these two wonderful sites this summer.

Spring Planting Season
March, April, May 2010

group picThis planting season has been amazing! We have had a great turn out at each planting from all of our wonderful volunteers. Here are some highlights from the season so far. We have had the help from over 800 volunteers in planting 3,756 trees and shrubs in Utah, and that number keeps rising.

The planting of the new "Trees for Eagles" grove was a BIG success!  Heartfelt thanks to Questar Gas and Mix 107.9 for volunteering their time and supporting our grand endeavor.  Along with planting the spiral, we were able to plant an additional 70+ trees in the adjacent area along the creek, with the help of volunteers from University of Phoenix and an Eagle Scout group from West Valley City.  Thanks to all for participating and for your continued support.

Trees for Eagles
Spiral Launch

eagleLookout Utah!  There is a new natural wonder in town.  The "Trees for Eagles" grove has been planted and is ready for adoration and exploration.  Come and enjoy nature's miracles/splendor and witness various birds migrating through our great state as well as the arrival of numerous other species as they make their home in the newly created wetlands.

We are offering wonderful interpretative walks at Redwood Natural Area throughout the summer. The grove will also serve as a demonstration site for environmental education programs for students at Redwood Elementary School, Granite Jr. High School, and Redwood Recreation Center. To learn more please check out our BROCHURE.

Garden Gatherings
at the EcoGarden

As many of you may already know, Treeutah has a community orchard/garden located at the Day-Riverside Library.  We are excited about entering our 5th growing season.  Our garden was developed to teach community members about permaculture and how to grow food.

Every Wednesday evening between 6 and 8pm please join us for garden gatherings, come with questions or come to explore. For more information on EcoGarden events click here
