ARTreach Rises to the Occasion by Janet Buller
Representatives from Katy-based ARTreach were overjoyed to attend the dedication ceremony for The Rise School of Houston's new facility on October 11, 2011. This summer, ARTreach worked with all of The Rise School students to paint a colorful, lively mural together. ARTreach's "Within My Reach" program supports children and adults with special needs. It was a perfect fit for The Rise School, which is a pre-school for children with and without disabilities from 6 months to 6 years of age. They painted with a variety of tools that could be easily held by the children, as well as having children squirt paint from a ketchup bottle towards the end of the project. "Van Gogh said there was a musical note equivalent for every color," said Ms. Linder. "When I look at the art, I hear a symphony of children's giggles. I smile every time I see it." ...Read the entire story in the next issue of Absolutely Katy Magazine
