2010 ARTreach Banner
A message from the Founder and Executive Director, Terri Bieber
2010 has been a successful year for ARTreach, with many goals being met due to dedicated staff, volunteers and board members working diligently to serve our rapidly growing community.

New foundation grants allowed our organization to develop and deliver innovative
Mentoring through Art programs that integrated science and math curricula with arts-based learning practices to serve children at risk in the school districts.  Grants also seeded the development of our special needs program Within My Reach to address graduating students' transitional issues through vocational arts education and training. Other special needs programs focused on enrichment and improved quality of life for adults with developmental disabilities.  2010 grants also helped us to expand ARTreach evaluation and development of ARTbeat!, interactive painting workshops, creative movement and music programs that benefit seniors and individualswith Alzheimer's and hospital patients in recovery.

Make the Arts a Priority! Please consider making a year end donation to ARTreach and support one or all the programs we offer to the greater Houston area.

Thank you for supporting the arts in your schools and community -  and for supporting ARTreach!

Making It Better

This year ARTreach, Making it Better and Texas Commission on the Arts worked together to provide mentoring and art to children at risk in Houston ISD. The children Making it Better serves are living in poverty and are right here in our midst. These are "our" children. Many children benefited from the life skills and discipline the arts provide. TCA Funding support was matched by Making it Better and ARTreach to serve students in three Houston schools and housing complexes this past semester. Read more and see photos...

ARTreach Programs are facilitated by qualified and professional teaching artists. ARTreach adheres to low student teacher ratios to support higher impact and learning, and provide the attention the students need in order to be successful. Specialized programs are available for schools or communities in need. ARTreach Teaching artists are trained to work with at risk youth, special needs groups and all general populations. Schools, libraries and social service agencies that would like to bring a program to their students, seniors or clients can apply by Feb 1, 2011 for a grant from Texas Commission on the Arts. Grant information is found online at www.arts.state.tx.us
