The Collect for the 17th Sunday after Pentecost / Proper 20
Grant us, Lord, not to be anxious about earthly things, but to love things heavenly; and even now, while we are placed among things that are passing away, to hold fast to those that shall endure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Dear Friends, The Christian life is one of change. I am reminded of some of the words from Eucharistic Prayer B...
In him, you have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In him, you have brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out of death into life. Hear the changes - the movement from one place / state to another. Transformation is essential and comprehensive for the follower of Jesus. We are changed, body, soul, mind and spirit. The very geography in which we walk becomes new as we are taken from the kingdoms of this world into the Kingdom of God. We make this journey by faith trusting Christ every step of the way. We are incapable of making this journey on our own. We need a Savior, one to rescue us from death and destruction. I spoke about this change in the sermon on Sunday - CLICK HERE There is a call that comes to each of us each day. Will you follow me. It is a walk of humility, surrender, sacrifice and is in the act of laying down our lives for Jesus we gain eternity. I know for myself my life can get cluttered. I am invaded by the "static"; the relentless noise of this world. Voices that say, I will find meaning and purpose in material things or in prestige and power. These voices if I let them can drown out the voice of the Good Shepherd calling simply to follow. I encourage all of us this day, this week to be still and listen; to unplug from the cell phone, internet and cable and simply find a few minutes to listen to Jesus. In doing so I know we will be changed, transformed and made new. in the mission,
Fr. Jon+
