Dear Friends,

(There is a lot in this update, please scroll around to see it all)

I have been on a trip to Atlanta where I officiated at the
wedding of my nephew Easton and his bride Kimberli.  It was a joyous time as we gathered and laughed, told family stories, shared in some family traditions, tears of joy and a wonderful wedding where Christ was lifted up and this young couple were joined together in the bonds of Holy Matrimony.

In thinking about "family" I can't help but think about Incarnation and how we are connected by "blood". We are grafted into Christ and are members of one another - reconciled to Almighty God and one another because of the blood of Christ.  It makes me think of the hymn There power, power, wonder working power, in the blood of the Lamb.   What holds us together is Jesus, by His love expressed in our shared mission of: loving God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit; loving each other; inviting the world to know this love.

In the weeks ahead we will launch our fall programming.   There will be some additions and changes.   After much discussion with the worship commission, the vestry and other ministry leaders we will be changing our Sunday morning schedule.  Beginning September 9th we will return to two services...
8am - Holy Communion Rite II
                     9am - Christian Formation Classes /
                                  Adult and Youth
                                  Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
                                      Levels 1-3
10:15am - Holy Communion Rite II

The early service will be trimmed a bit to finish by 8:45am.  The classes for adults and youth will end at 10am giving us about 15 minutes to transition to the St. Augustine Chapel.   The Catechesis will join the congregation in worship. around 10:45 or 11.   It similar to what we have been doing but "tightens" the morning up in I think a very family friendly way.

Next Sunday we will have a fellowship lunch following the 10am service (See below)  and we will share about the variety of ministries and programs we will be launching. Youth Group, Discipleship, Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University, Home Groups, Children's Choir and much more along with special events;  Choral Evensong and  St. Francis Day Blessing of the Animals to name two are on the fall calendar.   Various commissions will take charge of these events and gatherings and there is still time to plug in and be a part.
(See the left column for commission information)

Back to family... There are many things holding families together; history, relationships, purpose, activity, traditions, rituals, the list could go on. The underlying necessity, ingredient in all these things is love. As we grow in the love of Christ, share in the Kingdom life, we prosper on every level; spiritually, physically, emotionally, financially, relationally, in mission and vocation. That is our calling and joy...

in the mission,
Fr. Jon+
