Collect for the Sixth Sunday of Easter

O
God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as surpass our understanding: Pour into our hearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen

Dear Friends,

On Sunday we had a preview of Pentecost.  You can listen to the sermon (Click Here) and Jim Morical's eyewitness account (Click Here)

I invite you to pray a simple and powerful prayer I learned under the leadership of John Wimber:  Come Holy Spirit.   It is a prayer of surrender and invitation. We invite the Holy Spirit to fill us and use us.  The fuel for our earthly journey, for the life we live this side of glory is the Holy Spirit - in all we so we are dependent upon the Lord to manifest his power, peace, presence; His covenant love and he does so in the gift of the Holy Spirit.  This is the promise of the Father, Jesus asked the church to wait for because we need the Comforter and Advocate to guide us along the way.

On Sunday we prayed for folks during a classic song by Leslie Phillips and Matthew Ward; Not by might, Not by power but by my Spirit says the Lord (from Zechariah 4:6) You can listen to it on YOU TUBE (CLICK HERE)

As we move toward Pentecost we do so with anticipation. May Almighty God fill us, use us and move us into greater mission by His Spirit!

This is our calling, this is our ministry...

in the mission,

Fr. Jon+

A Collect we prayed on Sunday for Mothers...
Most gracious and gentle God, from the womb of your love you gave birth to all creation, and in your Son Jesus Christ you reveal a loving-kindness that longs to gather up your children under the shadow of your wings: Bless, we pray, all mothers, give them patience and wisdom, sustain them in gentleness and grace, deepen the tenderness of their affections, affirm them in the nobility of their calling. May our children always find in the embrace of mothers an outward and visible sign of your never-failing love and care. And through the love of our mothers, may we all feel the warmth of your tender mercies and know the constancy of your unconditional love; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
