Dear Friends,

On Saturday at the diocesan special convention we elected The Rev. Greg Brewer to be our next Bishop. You can read about our bishop-elect CLICK HERE
I have known Fr. Brewer for over twenty years and know him to be a thoughtful and capable man of God, gifted in many ways.  I would ask you to add him and his family to your prayers as they prepare to make the transition to Central Florida and to this "weighty" calling to serve Almighty God and to lead the clergy and the people of
our diocese.

As a nominee I was honored to let my name go forward and I hope in doing so I contributed something to the process.  Engaging in this election came at some cost, some distraction from the daily tasks as I considered the possibility.  I am still processing this but believe with all my heart that I was in a "no lose" situation.  A dear friend proposed this to me a month or so ago saying "If you are elected it is a win for the diocese and if not you continue to serve in an awesome and "winning" calling as vicar of Incarnation and director at Canterbury".  I appreciate deeply your kind thoughts and expressions of love to me yesterday.   I can truly say I am the most blessed priest in this diocese to serve with such wonderful, kind, compassionate and caring folks.  I thank God for each o you and...   We have a special opportunity this Thursday to GIVE THANKS!   Join us for a Thanksgiving Day service at 10am in the St. Augustine Chapel.  (Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday we will not have youth group on Wednesday or Women's Discipleship on Thursday)

I welcome the fact that this coming Sunday we enter the season of Advent, a time of expectation and hope, a season of preparation and reflection. I believe this season comes as a gift to us to consider what we are to do next as a congregation. How do we extend the Kingdom of God in this world?  How do we love God, love one another and share this love with the world?  Please join me in a season of discerning prayer as we continue to contemplate God's call to follow.

May God grant us grace in the journey and may He find us faithful in each moment...

in the mission,

Father Jon+
