Dear Friends,
It is good to be home! I spent a week on the road. Visiting some friends and a college reunion but then some time in Nashville meeting with the folks of Messenger Fellowship who have and will be utilizing Canterbury for some of their ministry. This group is led by some dear friends of ours, Steve Fry and Dave Buehring to name two. It was a rich time as we discussed the Kingdom of God and our call to participate as messengers and ambassadors of the Gospel.
The air was crisp, the leaves were beginning to show the first sign of Fall and it was a rich time driving through the southern countryside. I found this picture from my Berry College archives (hope it inspires you as to the seasonal change)...

As we enter a new season, as we ponder God's calling my question to myself and all of us is What are the anchors our life? (Some of this comes from my sermon on Sunday - CLICK HERE) For life to make sense, for us to discover who we are and why we are here there is only one place where we find the answer. I mentioned on Sunday that there are people enamored by the lifestyle of Jesus. They love his care and compassion, his social justice, his teaching. However this does not bring change and transformation. We are made new creations by being in Christ and Christ being in us. It is the Lordship of Jesus we must embrace, submitting our lives to his rule and reign, obeying his commandments and in doing so we find peace, hope, love and life.
I commend to you a favorite prayer...
61. A Prayer of Self-Dedication (Book of Common Prayer p.832)
Almighty and eternal God, so draw our hearts to thee, so guide our minds, so fill our imaginations, so control our wills, that we may be wholly thine, utterly dedicated unto thee; and then use us, we pray thee, as thou wilt, and always to thy glory and the welfare of thy people; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
When we pray this from the heart - look out! the world will change and us with it! May God grant us favor and success... in the mission, Father Jon+ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ HOME GROUPS...
