Grant us, Lord, not to be anxious about earthly things, but to love things heavenly; and even now, while we are placed among things that are passing away, to hold fast to those that shall endure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Canterbury and Incarnation continue to resist the development of adjoining property to the Canterbury campus where a RACETRAC gas station and convenience store is proposed.  There is one last public meetings regarding this development. Your support and participation in these meeting would be much appreciated and if there was ever a meeting that was critical for you to attend this is it - to show our concern in numbers is essential.  May God grant us and our cause favor with those who make these decisions.

Dear Friends, busyThis has been a busy week. Various meetings, new and returning programs, some situations that needed attention, some celebrations of birthdays, lessons to prepare, classes to teach, sermons, set-ups, and the usual list of tasks and obligations.  I am hearing a resounding "cry" from many of you that mirrors this full slate of activity.  We live in a fast paced world - instant information and an accelerated lifestyle that wears us out.  I am reminded of the story of Martha and Mary...

"As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"  "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.""   (Luke 10:38-42 )

It was a "busy" situation - lots of things to do - frantic and I can imagine a little bit of chaos in the kitchen.   As I read this account I am taken by the fact that in the midst of this activity Mary "CHOSE what is better". As we walk this life day by day we are given choices, we make decisions and thus the pace, the very steps are determined.  May we hear a steady beat, a cadence of the Kingdom of God which marks out for us not only the direction we are to go but the very rhythm and speed at which we travel.  In doing so our lives will be marked with joy and peace even in the busy times.

My prayer this week...

Lord help us to choose you, to sit at your feet and hear your voice throughout each full and busy day. Help us not to neglect that which is essential to our spiritual health and well being. Fuel us Lord Jesus with your presence, peace, power and purpose in all things

May you have a blessed week in the mission of the KINGDOM!
