Dear Friends,
As we move toward a new school year and past the leisure days of summer I hope we will consider adding things to our calendar that will fuel us in the faith. Here is strong statement from C.S. Lewis...
The Church exists for nothing else but to draw people into Christ, to make them little Christs. If they are not doing that, all the cathedrals, clergy, missions, sermons, even the Bible itself, are simply a waste of time. God became Man for no other purpose.
If we are to grow in our love for Christ and to be conformed to the image of Jesus we must do the things that will cause us to grow in that direction. Maybe it is time to be more serious about a daily bible study and time of prayer. Soon we will be launching a number of initiatives, Organic Discipleship, Morning Prayer, Home Groups, Christian Formation, Youth Ministry and more. By doing these things, embracing this piety, surrendering and cooperating with the work of the Holy Spirit we are transformed. It is a daily journey of faith, hope and love. May Almighty God order our steps.

A Few Things...
Canterbury and Incarnation are resisting the development of adjoining property to the Canterbury campus where a RACETRAC gas station and convenience store is proposed. There are several public meetings regarding this development:
Development Review Committee public meeting: Thursday, Aug. 11, / 2:00pm / City Council Chambers
Planning Zoning and Appeals Board public hearing: Tuesday, Aug. 23 / 6:30pm / City Council Chambers
City Council 1st reading:
Thursday, Sept. 8 /6:30 pm /City Council Chambers
City Council 2nd reading and adoption public hearing: Monday, Sept. 19, / 6:30 pm / City Council Chambers
