Collect for the Seventh Sunday in Easter

O God, the King of glory, you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven: Do not leave us comfortless, but send us your Holy Spirit to strengthen us, and exalt us to that place where our Savior Christ has gone before; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

Dear Friends,

Check out the announcement below about PENTECOST SUNDAY and remember this Sunday, June 12th we move to a Summer Worship Schedule of one service at 10am.

As I said Sunday we are in a "waiting" mode.  Jesus has ascended and we are to wait for the promise of the Father - the coming of the Holy Spirit. Waiting can be difficult in this "on-demand / time conscious driven world".  Waiting can be seen as passive but I sincerely believe the type of waiting we are to do is active and participatory.

A dear friend and wise person recently shared with me the following verse... "David said to Solomon his son, "Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished."   (1Chronicles 28:20)

I believe this word is one we need to hear as well.

There is work to be done but part of that work is one of patiently waiting.   I am sure the disciples were curious with questions over the ten days between the Ascension and the Day of Pentecost. I can hear them saying "What are we waiting for?" The simple answer is Jesus told them to.  There is a waiting of preparation and this verse gives us a posture for our waiting.

Be strong and courageous...

Don't be afraid or discouraged

God is with us

He will not fail or forsake us

Until our work is finished!

I believe we are about to break into some wonderful new areas of ministry and outreach into this community and beyond.   There is opportunity to see the Kingdom of God expand and God in His wisdom will use as a means to see people come to know and love Him.  In all things and at all times we are to rest in His promises - God is with us as we see His church built and established in the world.

So join me in actively waiting on the Lord!

in the mission,
Father Jon+
