Dear Friends,

 

I have retreated into the Hermitages at Valle Crucis in the North Carolina High Country for the next eight days.

I will be spending my time working on and producing my doctoral dissertation; preparing for a class I will teach in June at Reformed Theological Seminary and taking some time to be quiet.  

 

Psalm 46:10 says...  

"Be still, and know that I am God;"

I think you can apply the opposite, that is if we are not "still" we will not know Him. 


So in the cool, quiet, mountain air I will pray, recharge and ask for deeper faith.   I am a firm believer that "we cannot give away what we do not have" and what I have to offer you as priest, pastor and Vicar comes from my own spiritual disciplines of prayer, devotion, study and service.  Please pray for me in this time.

 

While I am gone you are in the very capable hands of Pastor Robin, please pray for her in this time as well.  Contact Deacon Dick if you have pastoral needs.   

 

I preached on Sunday about the church and our calling as expressed in I Peter 2. May the church of Jesus and especially the Church of the Incarnation in Oviedo / Winter Springs be built upon the foundation of the Word of God; the Apostolic Faith (the creeds) the Sacraments; and the Mission of the Church to proclaim the Gospel in all the world.  We pray for revival, for the power of the Holy Spirit to be manifest and for this to happen it has to happen in us first.
