 Dear Friends,
We begin The Great Triduum (The Great Three Days) today and I invite you to listen, pray, study, contemplate, and participate over the next 72+ hours in the significant moments that recall and reenact our redemption. We start tonight with a Maundy Thursday Service at 7:30pm in the St. Augustine Chapel at Canterbury. This service will focus on the celebration and remembering Jesus' institution of the sacrament of Holy Communion. It ends with a solemn "stripping of the altar". We will not have an official "watch or vigil of prayer" through the night but I encourage you to pray none the less in the same way that Jesus went to Gethsemane to pray.
We will gather again on Friday at Noon in the St. Augustine Chapel for the Good Friday Service as we contemplate the cross of Christ and linger in the moment of His sacrifice and death.
This will be followed at 4pm with Stations of the Cross for Children and Families as we walk intentionally the Via Dolorosa - the way of the cross. We will end this moment with a a time of fellowship and Hot Cross Buns.
Good Friday Evening we will gather once again at 8pm for a service of Tennebrae where we symbolically enter darkness and the tomb with Jesus.
Holy Saturday is a day for contemplation and preparation as we look to Easter Sunday to greet our Risen Lord.
On Easter Sunday we will begin at 6am with the Sunrise Great Vigil of Easter, lighting of the new fire and renewal of our baptismal vows. We will have two additional services on Easter morning 8:30am with no incense and 11:00am with incense. At these services we will have the Flowering of the Cross - please bring cut flowers to participate as a part of your Easter Offering. We will be resurrecting the "Al-----as" at 10:30am between the 8:30am and 11:00am services.
Please join us as we walk through these days with hope and expectation as we once again celebrate in worship Almighty God who, saves, delivers, redeems, heals and makes all things new!
