Dear Friends,
This week our journey of faith is intentional and profound as we walk through the passion of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Something to note: We now read the whole Passion Gospel on Palm Sunday; Why is that? One reason is it is an accommodation to culture. People would come on Palm Sunday to church, here the story of The Triumphal Entry and skip all of the weekday services and events of Holy Week. They would show up on Easter morning for a celebration of resurrection having missed the significant steps of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. My invitation to all of us whether at Incarnation or in other places is to contemplate deeply the way of the cross and to consider what Jesus did for us by his obedience even unto death. We cannot gloss over the the many significant moments leading to his suffering death and eventually resurrection.
Liturgically by our services we turn the church campus into "Jerusalem" commemorating and identifying with Jesus in the institution of the Last Supper / Eucharist, His scourging, His crucifixion, His being laid in the tomb until we get to Easter Morning. It is a journey from death to life and the more deeply you engage in this journey the more meaningful Easter becomes.
So join in this time, walk the path, actively remember what Christ has done for you.
