Incarnation / Canterbury Work Day / Saturday April 9th / 8am - 12noon
We will gather at the Mission House Property on Highway 419 to empty out the Storage container - tossing out what is not worth keeping, passing on what we do not need and taking the "treasures" over to Canterbury. This ready us to move the container to the Canterbury property. If time and number of folks allow we will take on a few projects in the Canterbury Campus as well. Dear Friends,
It is Sunday afternoon and I am beaming after a glorious morning of worship. David Teems returned to us sharing his ministry of music. During communion he did one of my favorite and classic hymns It Is Well.
There is a back story to this Hymn worth considering in this season of Lent...
"It Is Well with My Soul" is a very influential hymn penned by Horatio Spafford. This hymn was written after several traumatic events in Spafford's life. The first was the death of his only son in 1871 at the age of four, shortly followed by the great Chicago Fire which ruined him financially (he had been a successful lawyer). Then in 1873, he had planned to travel to Europe with his family on the SS Ville du Havre, but sent the family ahead while he was delayed on business concerning zoning problems following the Great Chicago Fire. While crossing the Atlantic, the ship sank rapidly after a collision with a sailing ship, the Loch Earn, and all four of Spafford's daughters died. His wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram to her husband, "Saved alone". As Spafford traveled to meet his grieving wife, he was inspired to write these words as his ship passed near where his daughters had died.

Pastoral Care Deacon Dick Costin is taking on the responsibility of coordinating pastoral care issues within the mission. He is responsible to assure that all known issues are being addressed by a member of the clergy. He also will train and manage our team of Lay Eucharistic Visitors who will be available to take communion to those unable to attend worship services and wishing to take communion. Normally such visits will occur on Sundays following the church services. We do need to know about you, however, in order to bring communion to you and of course we want to know that you want us to do so. So, if you are unable to attend church for good reason and wish to have communion, please call Deacon Dick. His home phone is 407-796-3922 and his cell phone for emergencies is 407-212-2718. All of your clergy are available for pastoral care issues. Fr.
