Collect for the Week
The Last Sunday after EpiphanyO God, who before the passion of your only begotten Son revealed his glory upon the holy mountain: Grant to us that we, beholding by faith the light of his countenance, may be strengthened to bear our cross, and be changed into his likeness from glory to glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. ******************************* Readings for the First Sunday in Lent March 13, 2011Genesis 2:15-17; 3:1-7 Romans 5:12-19 Matthew 4:1-11 Psalm 32 ++++++++++++++++++++ Coming Up at Incarnation... Dear Friends,
It is great to be home and I rejoiced to worship with everyone on Sunday. We enter a new season of the church year this week and with it comes some changes in our worship. The liturgy will reflect a more penitential form. It is a different "cadence" and thus will cause us to ponder what we are doing. I believe these seasonal changes in our worship rhythm is a good thing and makes us pay attention and in doing so we have an opportunity to see things and hear things we did not before. It adds to our Lenten journey leading us to behold our redemption anew. May God grant us a fruitful season of contemplating more deeply the life and ministry of our Lord and Savior, His passion and death, his sacrifice and calling for us to pick up our cross and follow Him.
There are a couple of things that may add to your Lenten Disciplines as well...
