Collect for the Week
The 7th Sunday
after Epiphany

O Lord, you have taught us that without love whatever we do is worth nothing: Send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts your greatest gift, which is love, the true bond of peace and of all virtue, without which whoever lives is accounted dead before you. Grant this for the sake of your only Son Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

This Coming Sunday (February 27th) is   FOOD SUNDAY.  Please bring non-perishable food items for the Oviedo Food Bank.

Dear Friends,

I am on the road this next week up to the mountains in western North Carolina.  Many of you know I am working on a PhD and am on course to finish my dissertation this year.  (something I need to do!) There have been a lot of things that have "back-burnered" this work (planting Incarnation and more recently the task of Executive Director at Canterbury).  I am grateful for the assistance Dr. Carla Waterman is lending, helping to edit and advise me in this process.  I hope to have a near completed draft when I return and will go through a couple of months of edits, submit my work during the summer and then defend it early in the Fall.  I ask your prayers for clear and effective writing and that the pages will flow.

In my absence if you have a need Pastor Robin is the person to contact.  (robin@incarnationoviedo.com / 407-234-8771)

As I reflect on where we have been and where we are there is an excitement stirring in me as we move forward in the mission and ministry God has called us to.   There are two opportunities I want to highlight, places for us to roll up our sleeves and get involved.

At our vestry meeting, Tommy Hagood volunteered and was elected by the vestry to serve as Junior Warden. Tommy is more than capable (being an architect he understands buildings and structures in a way few of us do) I have asked him and he has accepted the challenge to build up the Buildings and Grounds Commission of Incarnation.  In the season ahead Incarnation will have increasing responsibilities for maintaining some of the assets at Canterbury ad this will require a team of people.  So if you have gifts / skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, landscape etc. or simply have a vision for how we function on the Canterbury campus let Tommy know:  321-217-2487 / Tommy Hagood's email

Secondly Pastor Robin is coordinating volunteers.  As we move Canterbury's function to a volunteer force Incarnation becomes a primary pool of people who will serve in this important ministry to the diocese. Initially there are four areas where you can step up and contribute to the tasks that need to be done: Kitchen; Housekeeping; Maintenance; Office.  There might be other areas as well but I hope you will consider offering yourself (or your family :-) to  serve in one of these departments. Contact Pastor Robin for more information: (robin@incarnationoviedo.com / cell: 407-234-8771)

I think we are on track to build both Incarnation and Canterbury with the eternal things which I spoke about in my sermon on Sunday.   May God find us faithful to the task of seeing His Kingdom expand in Oviedo and beyond by what we do and how we live.

in the mission,
Father Jon+

A Prayer to Guide our Search

Be with us and guide us, Holy Spirit of God, as we seek your will for the future of our Diocese.  Help us to discern the needs and hopes of your people in Central Florida, so that our search for a Bishop may proceed with clear vision and joyful obedience. We pray through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Amen.
