Collect for the Week
The Second Sunday after Epiphany
Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illumined by your Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ's glory, that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Dear Friends,
There are a couple of significant moments in the weeks ahead. First we will have our annual meeting next Sunday. In addition to budgets and business of the mission we will elect three new vestry members. (technically as a mission we will have an election and then submit the names of those elected for the Bishop to appoint - as a mission it is not a vestry but rather a church committee) Please pray for the folks who are to serve in this important leadership role and ministry.
As I reflect on where we have been, where we are and where we are headed I am becoming more and more convinced of the blessing and calling of Incarnation to be at Canterbury. These are full and challenging days. Yet is the midst of them I am gaining a deeper sense of our purpose and why God has blessed us with this partnership in mission and ministry. (more on this on Sunday)
I walk away on Sundays filled with joy over Incarnation and the people God is calling to join in the effort to advance the Kingdom. My heart is full and as I have said many times, I am blessed in this calling.
The other event on the horizon is our annual Diocesan Convention January 28-29 at St. George's Episcopal Church in Lady Lake, Florida. This will be a gathering where we will look to where we are in "Taking Central Florida for Christ" (to quote our Bishop) and how we as a diocese are in the advance the Kingdom of God.
Pray for Incarnation as we move forward. Pray for Canterbury to fulfill its purpose and mission. Pray for our Bishop John W. Howe, his staff and diocesan leaders. In all of these ministries and efforts may we see the Kingdom expanding into the world one heart at a time.

I was privileged to attend a seminar at the Institute for Worship Studies in Jacksonville last week. ( For the IWS website CLICK HERE ) Dr. Don Davis (no relation :-) gave some amazing and remarkable insights to the Kingdom and how we are called to worship God. His ministry The Urban Ministry Institute in Wichita, Kansas is doing pioneering work in taking the Gospel to urban cultures around the world. Check their website at www.tumi.org

Our Congressional Representative is Sandy Adams and she is a member of Incarnation. I have been in prayer for her since her election and regardless of your political affiliations we are called to pray for our those who govern. Given the tragic violence in Tuscon I would ask each of us to pray for our leaders, our President, the Congress, the Courts and on every level of government; local, state, and national. There are wonderful prayers in the Book of Common Prayer (beginning on page 820) and I commend them to you. Specifically here is a prayer for Sandy and our Congress...
O God, the fountain of wisdom, whose will is good and gracious, and whose law is truth: we beseech thee so to guide and bless the Senators and Representatives in Congress, especially our representative Sandy Adams, that they may enact such laws as shall please thee, to the glory of thy Name and the welfare of this people; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
