A friend posted this image on their blog... (I looked for the artist info but could not find it)

I have pondered this image the last few days. It grips me - The exhaustion in Mary, the gaze of Joseph that seems to say "now what?" This is not the cozy image we recreate in pageants and in our mind's eye, it is stark. The two greatest moments of paradox in all of human history: How Christ Jesus entered this world and how he left it; coming in humility and surrendering His life on the cross. There are still many days remaining in the season of Christmas, time to ponder this miracle moment.
