Collect for the Week
The First Sunday in Advent Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. *********************************** Readings for Advent 2 / December 5th

The Season of ADVENT begins...
 Dear Friends,
The church year begins again as we again contemplate our redemption drawing nigh. There is something about art and discipline of reflection that attracts me personally. Advent is a season of reflection. It is an opportunity to look into the mirror, to see where we are and who we are, to reacquaint / reorient ourselves with our faith and relationship with Christ Jesus.
The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is upon us. I worked on Friday decorating our home for this festive season; hanging lights, setting up a tree, pulling out family treasures we display at this time of year. There is great preparation: meals and menus to craft; presents to buy; cards to send; friends and family to visit; parties to attend and more. I urge you as priest and pastor not to neglect the "the call" to think about, contemplate and reflect on what the coming of Jesus means for us personally, corporately; globally. Waiting, reflecting, contemplating, are becoming lost arts in this technologically driven world. I find myself from time to time needing to refresh and relearn what it means to walk in the ways of the Lord. Our good friend Dean Rick Lobs has some thoughts on Advent that can fuel us in this process (Click Here)
You and I have a specific and wonderful opportunity to renew our spiritual lives. There is still room for you to attend the FIRST FRIDAY - Spiritual Direction Retreat (the Friday and Saturday, December 3 &4) at Canterbury. Dr. Carla Waterman will be leading us gently through what it means to wait on the Lord; to be in His presence and to discover more about the wonder of His love. CLICK HERE FOR A FLYER I encourage you to use this event as a means of enriching your Advent journey. You can register by contacting Terra at Canterbury. tmedeiros@canterburyretreat.org
ALSO this coming weekend (Saturday, December 4th 4-8pm) we have a Christmas Open House sponsored by our Bishop, The Rt. Rev. John W. Howe. CLICK HERE FOR A FLYER - This will be a great time of food, fun, fellowship and more for Incarnation and the whole of the Diocese. Join us as we glimpse Christmas in this season of Advent. TO RSVP contact Terra at Canterbury. tmedeiros@canterburyretreat.org
Finally, Danny Miller (film maker and former member at Incarnation) is working with a great group of folks in helping Honduras. You can learn about this "enterprise mission" and possibly even do a little Christmas shopping at http://live.tegu.com/
May you have a blessed week in Jesus! I am yours...
in the mission of the Kingdom, Fr. Jon
