Dear Friends,

We just completed the Worship Conference at the diocese - it was a rich time of reflection, training and being challenged in the area of worship. Our good friends Dr. Reggie Kidd, Dr. Carla Waterman and Pastor, author, and renowned worship leader, singer and song writer Steve Fry were among the speakers. (Steve's music would be a major part of our "soundtrack" as a congregation)

A new opportunity...

We begin Organic Discipleship this week. Organic is a catch word in our society - We hear it with the following connotations...

    Natural - this is built upon 2 Timothy 2:2..."what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."    Dave Buehring refers to this as discipleship to the third and fourth generation: Paul to Timothy; Timothy to the faithful; the faithful to others. My image is that I and Pastor Robin will simply take what we have learned as followers of Jesus, students of the scripture - what we have been taught through the years of ministry and we will share it in an informal manner.

    Fresh / Unpolluted - in this sense we will simply read the texts and then discuss their meaning. You can prepare but it will be quite inductive and previous study or homework will not be necessary. You will be able to drop in on this anytime and if your schedule demands you miss a few weeks you can do so and pick up easily as your schedule allows.

We will begin with a Eucharist in the St. Francis Chapel in the main building at Canterbury - the Eucharist component is open to all.   Our pattern will be:

For Men led by Father Jon... Wednesday mornings at 7am - beginning with an abbreviated Eucharist at 7am - followed by Breakfast (suggested $3.00 donation) and that followed by a bible study looking at the lectionary readings for the week.

For Women led by Pastor Robin... Thursday mornings at 9:30am - beginning with an abbreviated Eucharist - followed by Coffee and Fellowship leading to a bible study once again looking at the lectionary readings for the week.

I hope you will take advantage of this time as I am confident it will be "fuel" for your faith and a place offering the things necessary for you to grow in Christ.
