Dear Friends, We are entering a busy season as we gear up for the premiere of Incarnation at Canterbury. This includes adding a second (earlier) service, some special events and beginning on September 12th the launch of our Christian Formation classes including the new level 2 of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. There has been much preparation for this moment. Working on the campus, with road improvement, accessible parking, painting, landscaping and looking at every detail in terms of getting ready.
I love being the vicar of Incarnation. I am the most blessed priest in the church - hands down! Sundays are a joy and I love seeing the smiling faces and the tender fellowship we share. It is so very special and there is a part of me that would like to press the "pause button" and simply enjoy what we have - where we are. However I know that God has not just gathered us for the sake of our own enjoyment. We are a mission congregation and the task we have is to take what we have been given and share it with others that they may know the joy of Jesus in their lives.
So we are getting things ready. We need to get ourselves ready too. These changes will impact our community and with the hoped for growth there is a cost. You won't see some people week after week as they may attend the "other" service. We expect new people joining the church and lending their talents and resources for the sake of growing the church and its Kingdom ministry. There will be a lot of new things. A new ministry of a new priest joining the staff - we eagerly await Pastor Robin and her family's arrival this week. I spoke of the cadence of our walk in Christ last week - the beat still goes on and for the next month it may be a little quicker and more intensive. Regardless we bend our ear to be in step with what Jesus would have us do. We put our shoulder to the plow and lean into the calling to proclaim by word and deed the Good News of Jesus.
in the Mission, Fr. Jon
