O God, the protector of all

nothing is strong, nothing is holy: Increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that, with you as our ruler and guide, we may so pass through things temporal, that we lose not the things eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Rembrandt's Return of the Prodigal Son

prodigal son

Dear Friends,

I walk away from Sundays with great joy having gathered with the saints at Incarnation.  I am blessed to be the vicar of such a vibrant and loving community of people.  What makes Incarnation different?  I think it is quite simply we are focused on loving God and each other and sharing the Gospel through love with the world.  This simple truth of the Great Commandment plus the Great Commission fuels our mission and ministry. I said on Sunday in my sermon...

We cannot fathom the depth and wonder of God's love.  God loves us completely, fully and without end.  Jeremiah recalls God has loved us with an everlasting love. His kindness, provision; His mercy, grace and protection; His gentleness, friendship and patience are all examples of his radiating love.

Renbrandt's Return of the Prodigal Son portrait images for us the love of God.  From Sunday's Old Testament lesson in Hosea we see a similar story of God's love in the rescue of Gomer from a harlot's life by her husband. The story of Hosea and Gomer is a living parable of God's unending love.

When we glimpse the depth of God's love for us, we are changed and our response should be to love God with all we are and to be a conduit of His love to others.  I witness this on Sundays and throughout the week as I see folks extending themselves on behalf of the mission so that others may know the love we have in Christ Jesus.

May this always be true of us...

in the Mission,
Fr. Jon

A FEW THINGS...

Be sure to check the other announcements in the left column.  There has been a lot going on...

The road to the chapel has been resurfaced with crushed concrete - it much more accessible and sets the stage / foundation for a paved road in the future.  We are also pouring some concrete this week for two parking pads for handicap accessibility by the chapel.

Thanks to the youth group and others who gave their Sunday afternoon to work on fixing up the house for Pastor Robin and her family.

A new sign will be going up on the brick wall at the entrance - look for that in the next couple of weeks.

All of this work is to prepare us for the our "premiere" of Church of the Incarnation at Canterbury.  We continue to need volunteers and folks to step up for ministries that are short staffed. So we continue in recruitment mode

as we move toward the "premiere" in late August with expanded Christian Formation and an additional service.  We need more folks on Altar Guild; Christian Formation volunteers with our youth and children; ushers; hospitality; greeters; readers and more.   If you are interested please contact Father Jon to discuss where you might plug in and contribute the mission.  jon@incarnationoviedo.com or call Fr. Jon's cell 321-436-8006

Seminary Fund...
Gary and Christina Jackson hosted a bake sale on Sunday and wish to thank all who participated - from the "cooks" and the partakers.  Over $400.00 was raised for Gary's Seminary education.

Additionally we are raising money to help Seminary students and right now our "project student" is Gary Jackson as he travels to Nashotah House to complete his Anglican Studies over the next year.  You can make a tax deductible donation by writing a check to Church of the Incarnation and tag it for Seminary Fund.
