Dear Friends,
Pentecost!!! We had a great day celebrating the coming of the Holy Spirit and we were visited with a manifestation of speaking in tongues! (Did I get your attention?) Let me explain... After singing the "Come, Holy Spirit Come" and beginning our first reading... "Suddenly!" there was a voice in Spanish breaking through the sound system... a local radio station cutting in on our service. This is the first time this happened in our service and to my knowledge in the PA system. Jose later told me it was a Spanish church service with the preacher talking about Pentecost. I cut the sound off and then Roz Bennett our reader for the day read these words... And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent
wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided
tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of
them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak
in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. (Acts 2)
A serendipitous, surprising moment causing a bit of laughter. I have been in services on Pentecost where the lessons were read in multiple languages simultaneously - for us this was not planned - (I could not have coordinated this any better if I had tried)
It was great seeing everyone decked out in RED!
I believe God is breaking the chains - moving us into greater freedom as we experience the joy of being adopted by Almighty God, redeemed by the work of Christ and filled with the Holy Spirit.
In the
mission,
Fr. Jon+

From Pastor Robin...
Greetings and many thanks to all who have prayed, sent emails, or
befriended me on Facebook. I have
felt lovingly welcomed and long to meet with you face to face.
Fr. Jon asked that I introduce myself and family to you. I graduated from Nashotah House Seminary
in 2008 and have served at Messiah Episcopal Church in St. Paul, Minnesota for
the last two years, mainly overseeing our Karen parishioners, refugees from
Burma and Thailand. I have also
been actively involved with the healing ministry, pastoral care, and
contemplative worship. I enjoy biking, hiking, reading, & recently got back
in the "swing" of golf. My husband
Jim is the Director of U.S. Sales for Tightrope Media Systems: www.trms.com.
He is on the Vestry and involved
with youth ministry and multi-media at Messiah. Our daughter Bethany graduated from high school last year and
is doing a ministry internship near Dallas, Texas at the Honor Academy where
she takes classes and is Latin American Rep with Global Expeditions/ Teen Mania
Ministries: www.honoracademy.com. She will stay another year as a core
advisor.
Our daughter Abigail
takes piano lessons and is involved with the youth team at Messiah Church. She is going on two mission trips this
summer to Chicago with her youth group and to Panama with Global
Expeditions:www.globalexpeditions.com. She will enter 11th Grade at
Oviedo High School this August. Our
son James also takes piano lessons and has been involved with Boy Scouts since
Second Grade. He will move up to
Life Scout before we leave in August and will continue work on his Eagle rank
with the Scouts in Oviedo. He is
an acolyte at church and will go to camp twice this summer before starting 8th
Grade at Jackson Heights Middle School.
We have two friendly Australian Shepherds, named Cali and Kodi, who you
may see hiking along the Canterbury Trail with us this Fall. We are all excited for the move to
Oviedo and joining our new family at Incarnation!
Jim and I will be at the Kingdom Mandate Conference this weekend. We look forward to worship with you
this Sunday and seeing all who are in town over Memorial weekend.
With love & blessings,
Pastor Robin
