Dear Friends,
We had a vestry retreat on Saturday and among our discussion the main focus was to examine our life on the Canterbury campus. We realize there are many blessings in being here at Canterbury - with those
blessings come some challenges. We
are looking at a few things in particular:
Making the
Chapel more accessible (notice
the new signage?) We need to look at some defined parking and specifically some handicap access parking. Additionally and long term we need to examine having the road improved too and look at some signage on the 434/ Alafaya Trail frontage that will let the community know Incarnation meets at Canterbury.
Capacity - we will be looking at
removing the larger chapel chairs and replacing them with more of the blue
chairs this will add 20-30 more chairs in the room.At some point it is evident We will adding a second service and making that work with
our Christian Formation Schedule.
We are looking to
restart Children's Chapel and trying to figure the best way to do
that in regards to location and format.
We want to do specific advertising to the community to let them know who and where we are and to invite people into church, similar to what we did in our launch in March of 2007. We are targeting late August for some media (mailings, events and such) that will go out into the "neighborhood" - the hope is that by then we will have figured out more of how we can best function at Canterbury.
In all of this we will be looking for
input, ideas and direction from you.
We will soon do a survey asking questions about these and possibly other
issues. We might call a parish
meeting or forum to discuss the options and solutions. What great problems to
have and I believe God will show us the right way forward.
I am still stunned at the grace and favor God has given us in this new location and eager for it to feel more like home. To carry that analogy further - we are in the process of unpacking boxes and finding where things should go, arranging furniture and living into the space we have been given. What a blessing this move to Canterbury is and will be.
On another note... Before we entered the season of Lent we had a fabulous Mardi-Gras party on Tuesday night. Thanks to Sherise for her hard work in setting this up. It was a fun time with cajun food, Kings cakes and all the trimmings... Here are a couple of our "saints" (Linda and Christy) all decked out in Mardi Gras garb and colors!!!

It was mentioned to me that some might like a link to Sunday's Sermon on line Click here if you want to listen.
