Collect for the week
Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

A "marker day" for Incarnation & Canterbury...
Dear Friends,

What a remarkable day Sunday was!  So much happening in our common life. I am always blessed by the teaching ministry of Bishop Howe.  He is a gift to us and articulates so clearly the Gospel and call to deeper commitment to Christ Jesus.

Hearing testimonies and seeing people making public professions of faith is one of the most thrilling things to me personally.  I was moved to tears by what Jeff and Randi-Ann shared in regards to their journey of faith.

One of my favorite verses is Philippians 3:12...  "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me." This is what we witness in the service of confirmation - people embracing Jesus and being grasped by God to serve in His Kingdom.

The Picnic was fabulous (thanks Canterbury Staff!) - what a great time of fellowship and fun as we begin to think of ourselves in the Canterbury partnership.
Being on Canterbury's campus as a congregation I believe gave us a tangible image of where we are headed.

The details will come in time and we will be working them out in due course but we are getting a sense of our destination.

The bitter-sweet moment of sending Rev. Sarah out to her new calling at Good Shepherd in Maitland speaks to the Kingdom of God continuing to grow and advance in this world.  May God give Rev. Sarah all she needs in this calling and may the good people in Maitland know how loved they are that God would send them such a precious gift in the person of Sarah Bronos!

Work begins in earnest for me at Canterbury as of November 16th.  Please pray for me as there will be a lot to get done and for the next couple months there will be many moments of living into this new paradigm that will challenge all of us as we move forward.  I am confident in this calling and that as we work through all of the circumstances: Canterbury and Incarnation; the Diocese of Central Florida and ultimately the Kingdom of God will prosper; growing in love and our witness to the grace and mercy found in Jesus.

I am amazed at these very full days in our life and reminded of the verse... "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" (1 Cor. 2:9) A month ago I could not have imagined all the changes we would be experiencing. We are walking this spiritual journey and regardless of where it leads we have confidence in Almighty God. A friend shared this metaphor with me a year or so ago.  When the monks would walk through the monastery praying at night they tied candles to their feet which gave just enough light to take the next step. God is giving us what we need to do what He calls us to - of that I am confident.   I would love to see the full scope of this work and all we will be and do. (we will someday) For now He gives us enough light to take the next step. Michael Card wrote a song appropriate for us in this moment...

There is a joy in the journey
There's a light we can love on the way
There is a wonder and wildness to life
And freedom for those who obey

And all those who seek it shall find it
A pardon for all who believe
Hope for the hopeless and sight for the blind

To all who've been born in the Spirit
And who share incarnation with Him
Who belong to eternity stranded in time
And weary of struggling with sin

Forget not the hope that's before you
And never stop counting the cost
Remember the hopelessness
     when you were lost

There is a joy in the journey
There's a light we can love on the way
There is a wonder and wildness to life
And freedom for those who obey

May we all discover JOY IN THE JOURNEY!
