Collect for the week

O God, whose blessed Son came into the world that he might destroy the works of the devil and make us children of God and heirs of eternal life: Grant that, having this hope, we may purify ourselves as he is pure; that, when he comes again with power and great glory, we may be made like him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

28 years of friends, fellowship and Fall Colors in the Mountains of North Carolina
cabin 2009
Dear Friends,

I am winding up a wonderful time in the North Carolina Mountains. I was renewed by the fall foliage, the cool mountain air, time alone for a few days then some vigorous fellowship with five dear friends (picture above).  It was great fun and a cherished ritual; one that renews and energizes me in every aspect of my life.

This SUNDAY is a very full and important day at Incarnation...
We welcome The Rt. Rev. John W. Howe, the Bishop of Central Florida and our good friend. The Bishop will be teaching a class on Spiritual Gifts at the 9am Christian Formation class and then be celebrant and preacher at the 10:30am service where a number of folks will be confirmed, received and reaffirmed in the apostolic faith. (the cash from this Sunday's offering will go to the Bishop's discretionary fund)

Following the service at RTS we will move to Canterbury Retreat & Conference Center for a church picnic (barbecue) starting around 12:30pm.  The lunch is provided by Canterbury with a suggested donation of $7.00 for adults / $4.00 for children 3-11 (under 3 are free).

During this time we will have opportunity to tour Canterbury & Bishop Howe will share briefly about the Incarnation / Canterbury partnership that is emerging.

We will also honor Rev. Sarah as this is her last Sunday with us at Incarnation before she becomes the rector at Church of the Good Shepherd in Maitland. (we are still collecting money for a "purse" for Rev. Sarah If you would like to make a donation please get this by Wednesday this week - contact me for more details)

The weeks ahead are full of activity as we begin the "ramp-up" to the holiday season.  In the midst of all this activity and some of the possibilities we have as a congregation let us not forget to be thankful.  Gratitude is a virtue we should cultivate daily - giving thanks for all we have, the simple things and pleasures of life, gives us a healthy perspective on what is truly important.  This Sunday let us show our gratitude to God by supporting those who are making deeper commitments to Christ and by honoring the ministry of Rev. Sarah among us at Incarnation.

Living, dwelling and rejoicing in the land where blessings abound!

Fr. Jon / Vicar
