Dear Friends,
I continue to reflect on the passage from James regarding healing, believing this is what God intends for all of us. It is fairly easy in this world to be broken, battered, wounded and diseased by circumstances and more. For many living with pain, be it emotional, spiritual or physical is a way of life and I watch many people cope the best way we can.
Jesus did not come to give us coping skills. The Son of God came to deliver us from disease and death. He bore these things in his body on the cross. The words from 1st Peter remind us, "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed." (1Peter 2:24) We, in this life get only a glimpse of the depth of our deliverance and salvation. By His cross Jesus heals us and makes us whole, he mends the brokenness of our lives. True we may suffer in this world from the pains of these ailments that have yet to be completely banished; yet Jesus has accomplished our deliverance and by faith we believe that what He began He will finish. With what Jesus has already done, what He has already given, we know He is good for the rest.
So we hope for more healing, for a deeper deliverance and by faith we wait for our Redeemer to make us comprehensively whole in all we are. This is his design for us, for good things, for life, for strength for fullness of joy.
I believe we are tasting this at Incarnation and we are preparing a table for many to come and partake of the Lord's goodness. The mission of healing is in us and through us, to a broken world in need of mending, a lost world in need of being found, a diseased world in need of healing. What a glorious calling, may God grant us grace to be faithful in it!
Living, dwelling and rejoicing in the land where blessings abound!
