 A  Fruitful Season...                harvest
Dear Friends,

What a great retreat this past weekend with our special guest and friend Steve Fry. Steve challenged us to extend the Authority of Christ in our own lives, our community and the world. It was a fresh take for me on the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).  One "take-away was a further definition of authority as that of "authoring life" Authority can be a negative word for us with pictures of domination and control.  As Steve unpacked this word with us in the context of creation and authoring life it gave new meaning to the Great Commission in that Jesus having received all authority then passes that on to his followers and we are to "make disciples" who experience life and peace when they come into the Kingdom.  I commend to you Steve's ministry among us - you can hear Sunday's sermon by Clicking Here

As I said last week, I sense God is stirring something in us.  That "sense" for me is seeing an opportunity for a harvest. In the past three years we have grown as a community and people. We have tilled the soil, planted seeds, nurtured the seedlings, been thrilled about the sprouts springing forth from this work.  All of that is exciting to see - but we planted in order to bear fruit and I believe we are in for our first harvest.  This harvest has at least two dimensions...

IN US...  God is doing a work in us as his children - there is transformation and change, pruning and tending bringing forth a fruit of righteousness in us.  We are becoming more like Jesus as we pray, study, worship, serve and give.  God is healing us and making us whole.

THROUGH US... We bear witness to the Love of God found in Christ and we share with the world around us in hopes of the expansion of the Kingdom of God.  There are people we work with, go to school with, folks we encounter in the community who need to see and hear the Gospel and God wants us to simply be a means of His Grace to a broken world in need of redemption.

I am eager and expectant in the days of head that our growth and fruit will be two fold:  First we will grow deeper into Christ Jesus being made more like Him every day bearing the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5). we will grow wide reaching out to those who are desperate for GOOD NEWS.  We do this not in our own strength but BY THE HOLY SPIRIT.

What and adventure it is to be...

living where blessings abound!

Subsequent  meetings will be held on Sundays, September 20th and October 4th (time and place TBA).  The meetings will progress in a discussion of our dreams and wants in a church building to discussing our site and property and finally to aesthetics (specific as to the textures and materials we will use) The whole congregation is invited and encouraged to join in this process.
