Dear Friends,
I have been reflecting on the past few weeks and sense a stirring in our midst of God's grace and bidding us to go deeper into the calling he has for us individually and as a faith community called Incarnation. If you have missed a Sunday I commend to you the sermons, especially Rev. Sarah's from yesterday. I believe and hope that this coming weekend on our retreat will be a significant time of moving us forward. I hope you will make every effort to join us in this time of fellowship, worship and teaching. Details are scattered throughout this update.
I liken this expectation to what I experienced growing up in North Georgia in late August. Let me paint a picture... A sweltering hot summer day; everything says it is summer but there is a "whiff"; a scent in the air that says change is coming and autumn will break soon. A day or so later a cool front pushes through and though there are still a few warm days ahead, Fall will soon be in full swing.
This is what I sense in our life as a community. There is a fresh movement of God in the air and we will soon see the Kingdom; more clearly, more profoundly. That is; we will see lives transformed, miracles, life, hope, peace, joy and love manifested in us and through us.
I could be wrong but this is what I sense God is saying to me when I pray. My longing for the Kingdom is increasing and my hope is in Christ Jesus to establish His reign in new ways in our midst. Please join me in these prayers as we wait expectantly upon the Lord. If you are planning to attend the retreat (see announcement below) please send Shelly an email and let us know who is coming. INCARNATION TOWN-HALL MEETINGS WITH OUR ARCHITECT: Rick Swisher
August 30
(immediately following our morning service)
 Lunch provided by the
Incarnation Youth Group (donations requested)
Come with your ideas,
comments, questions, input and more as we dream and plan about what we
will build on our property to serve the Church of the Incarnation.
Subsequent meetings will be held on Sundays, September 20th and October 4th
(time and place TBA). The meetings will progress in a discussion of
our dreams and wants in a church building to discussing our site and
property and finally to aesthetics (specific as to the textures and
materials we will use) The whole congregation is invited and encouraged
to join in this process. For more information contact Steve Overstreet at overstrs@aol.com .
