Almighty God, you alone can bring into order the
unruly wills and affections of sinners: Grant your people grace to love

varied changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed where

Mission House Work Day... April 4th / 9-1pm

|
|
Dear Friends,
This Saturday, April 4th / 9am-1pm we will have a work day at the Mission House. When I think about these days I get a bit nostalgic. When the diocese purchased this property for this mission there was the house that needed to be remodeled and much work to do to prepare for our launch two years ago (the launch began March 25th, 2007). There were a number of work days and people would on their own take on special projects in the process. Youth groups and volunteers from other congregations helped out. Add to that several "Eagle Scout" projects from a variety of troops in the area and you can sense a great deal of the "sweat equity" invested in these seven and a half acres.
We were fewer folks back then and when the picture above was taken we were not even an organized mission. Working together builds community and brings us closer to one another. It is a joy to look share in this kind of fellowship.
One of the visions I have in eventually seeing a building go up is a great deal of this same kind of work. I think we will do a lot of things ourselves and with the help of others joining in the effort. Painting, landscaping, construction; masonry; plumbing; electrical; and more are areas that are within reach for us to do as a community. One of my favorite places in the world Salisbury Cathedral in England was built by the people of that community over a period of eighty years. Stone upon stone, this magnificent structure rose to the Glory of God. I do not think it will be eighty years for us, but in time, God's time we will contribute in the same way offering our gifts, talents, treasures to see a building rise in Oviedo to the Glory of God. It begins with being stewards now of what God has blessed us with, caring for the Mission House and the land.
So even though you
might have physical limitations there will be something for everyone to
do on Saturday. Bring your yard tools, power tools, gloves,
sunscreen and more and join in the fun if only for an hour come and be
with the community gathered in a renewing, life bearing task for the
land and for us. For more info contact our Junior Warden; Mike Piercy
