COLLECT FOR THE WEEK
Almighty God, you know that we have no power in
ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and
inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities
which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may
assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and
reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. ********************* Readings for March 22, The 4th Sunday in Lent Numbers 21:4-9

| Another Step in the Journey... |
|
Dear Friends,
At our vestry meeting this past Tuesday the vestry decided unanimously to "release the RFP" (Request for Proposal). This is an official and important step as we do more than think about a building on the property and begin the process of selecting an architect and other folks who will move us forward in the mission.
I have come to believe a seminary in addition to theology and ministry courses should also offer a track in real estate: purchasing; developing; environmental impacts; civil engineering and cutting through local government "red tape". I have learned more about these things then I ever thought I would and still do not know enough. The good thing is I am not alone. God has brought together an amazing group of folks on the Long Range Planning Committee that have the necessary expertise and we are given resources in the diocese and other networks that will help us navigate these uncertain, unknown and at times turbulent waters.
To help raise some funds for this endeavor we have scheduled a RUMMAGE SALE for Saturday, May 9th / 8am-3pm at the Mission House. We need help to make this happen, really everyone in the congregation has a part to play: *donate items *coordinate or work a department (i.e. clothing, furniture, tools, books, etc) *advertising *set-ups / tear downs *AND MORE More details as we get closer but if this is something you would like to help with please let Shelly know at shelly@incarnationoviedo.com
If this does not encourage you then maybe this nugget will. In our Sunday morning prayer class I spoke about worship as an element of prayer and I shared the following quote from William Temple... "Worship is the submission of all of our nature to God. It is the quickening of conscience by His holiness, nourishment of mind by His truth, purifying of imagination by His beauty, opening of the heart to His love, and submission of will to His purpose. And all this gathered up in adoration is the greatest of human expressions of which we are capable."
Worship is what we will do in the new building, when we move into it on the property. Worship will also be building the structure, sacrificing to pay for it and laboring to see it rise above the trees. Worship leads us closer to God; Isn't that what Lent and really all of life should be about.
Living where blessings abound, Fr. Jon / Vicar
