Breaking News!
T&S to become a "core experience" for EVSC second graders
The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation has invited Tales & Scales to become a "core experience" for their second grade students in 2009-2010! This means that, next year, every second grader in the school corporation will get to experience both a Tales & Scales performance and workshop in their schools. We are thrilled about this partnership with EVSC. "The EVSC is very excited to partner with Tales & Scales as one of our first core experiences for elementary aged students. The EVSC believes that there are certain activities that all children should experience before they graduate, and many children never get that opportunity. Through core experiences and partnerships like this one, the EVSC plans to offer a variety of programs to ensure equity and excellence for all our students."

Igniting Imaginations in Henderson, KY!
T&S visited every Henderson County elementary school in March 2009
Through the Henderson Area Arts Alliance, Tales & Scales presented "A Day of Tales & Scales" at each elementary school in Henderson County, March 16-27. The students started the day with a performance of Tales & Scales' classic musictale - The Little Dragon (story by Jay O'Callahan, score by Scott Wheeler, directed by Gary Race)! Then, throughout the school day, Tales & Scales musictellers went directly into the classroom to work with small groups of students in Imagination Blast! workshops, where students experienced the creative process themselves! To read more about the Henderson residency and see photos, check out this Henderson Gleaner article!

Orchestra Performances
T&S warmly received by both Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra
(L-R) Musictellers Hilary & Jason, BPO Conductor Robert Franz, Musictellers Greg & Liza
Tales & Scales performed with two outstanding orchestras in February:
February 8 - The Little Dragon (original story by Jay O'Callahan, original music by Scott Wheeler, directed by Gary Race) with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Robert Franz.
February 21 - The Arabian Nights (written by Chris Limber, score by Doug Lofstrom, directed by Gary Race) with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra conducted by Ryan McAdams.
