Dear Patients:

We have received a modest allocation of H1N1 vaccine, and we will begin providing immunizations shortly.
holding handsWe must follow the criteria set forth from the CDC for vaccinations of adults over age 25.  This means that we will immunize high-risk patients with the following conditions:

 - Pregnancy
- Lung disease, including asthma
- Cardiovascular disease (does not include either high
         blood pressure or high   cholesterol)
- Active cancer of any type
- Chronic renal insufficiency (kidney disease)
- Chronic liver disease
- Diabetes mellitus

We will be contacting patients who are currently on our high- risk list within the next 2 weeks to coordinate your immunization. Please do not call the office requesting the vaccine, as we will be contacting you!

- Do know that you do not need the H1N1 immunization if you have already
had the 'swine' flu this season.

-Do know that the vaccine appears very safe based on post-marketing testing
  by the CDC.

- Do know that you should take both the regular seasonal flu vaccine and the
   H1N1 immunization.

The incidence of H1N1 influenza is currently on the decline, but it may intensify later in the season.
Yours in good health,H1N1

Dr. Lakin
